Created around 1897, In the Dance Studio (Dans le studio de danse) demonstrates Edgar Degas’s late-career evolution toward vibrant, expressive color harmony. As Degas’s eyesight began to fail in the late 1890s, he transitioned from precise linear draftsmanship to bold, heavily layered pastel application. In this captivating rehearsal scene, ballerinas in fiery orange, amber, and cool blue skirts pause during their rigorous routines. The sunlit studio walls and soft shadows merge into a rich tapestry of color. Translating Degas’s tactile dry pastel techniques into oil on canvas, this work captures the spirit of dedication, movement, and vibrant color expression that defined Degas’s late masterworks.

Studio Craftsmanship & Quality Highlights

100% Hand-Painted Execution: Meticulously hand-crafted layer by layer by senior specialist Impressionist artists, faithfully translating Degas’s late feathery pastel strokes and intense color glazing into rich oil paint on linen.
Archival-Grade Materials: Rendered on heavy-weight, high-density pure linen canvas using premium oil pigments to ensure lifetime color vibrancy, maximum UV permanence, and structural stability.
Vibrant Color & Layered Depth: Accurately renders the striking contrast between warm orange-red skirts, cool blue tulle highlights, and the soft ambient lighting of the studio space.

Recommended Space Placement

Residential: Elegant living parlors, master bedroom suites, vanity areas, music rooms, or private gallery hallways.
Commercial: Performing arts centers, classical dance studios, luxury boutique hotel rooms, and impressionist fine art galleries.
